DuneEsque- Display Type: A Custom Typeface Objective: Design a futuristic sans-serif 'Display-Type' typeface that expresses an organic feel--inspired by the title font of Denis Villeneuve's 2021 movie Dune . Approach: Create each glyph from variations and segmentations of two primary elements -- a straight line "|" and a "U" shape. Punctuation (e.g., period, comma, etc.) mimics an inverted solid-fill "U" form; at a large scale, the period resembles a mound of balled dough sitting on a flat surface. ~~The following are examples for reference only.
